As I do not live in The Netherlands anymore it isn’t easy for me to get hold of speculaas spice mix these days, fortunately, it is effortless to make myself.
Usually, at the end of November, I make a preserving jar full of it. I tend to use a LOT of it in the month of December for my St. Nicolas and Yuletide baking. And just in case I do not finish it, I can continue making speculaas biscuits until it is all finished.

Speculaas spicemix

Over the years I have made a lot of this spice mix and we’ve used so much. It’s not always been easy to get all the ingredients where I live in the UK, though with more and more Asian shops popping up it’s become much easier the last few years.

Above you see the different spices the way they look when they are in powder form in a glass bowl. These are the measured amounts. The picture at the top shows them together in a bowl before I mix them.

Speculaas spice mix

This spice mix is for a few different Dutch treats. Kruidnootjes & Speculaas are two of them.
